This collection was assembled by a collector whose professional activities took him to the USSR in the 70s and 80s, and again after the fall of the Soviet regime. This collector helped young Russian artists at the Saint-Petersburg Academy. This artistic scene, which illustrates Perestroika and Glasnost, is characterized by post-Soviet cultural reappropriation and social criticism.

The sale also features works by artists from the former regime and those exiled during the 1917 revolution.
