Pierre Paul RUBENS (1577 - 1640), entourage of - Flemish school 17th century The Judgment of Solomon. Oil on canvas with old canvas lining. 85.5 x 121.2 cm. Unframed. Note: The work has an identical composition in an etching after Rubens (see last photo) by Boetius Adams BOLSWERT (1580-1633), who joined Rubens' studio in 1624 to make engravings after the master. Rubens' original canvas, painted in 1617, was destroyed in a fire in Brussels in 1695. The work has been lined on an old canvas, which shows that it is very old, probably from the 17th century. Old restorations. Provenance: Private collection in Leuven.
