Georges WASTERLAIN (1889-1963) Three miners. Reconstituted stone. Note: At 13 he left school to go down the mine. He then became a laborer and took his first drawing classes at the age of 25. In 1914, he was mobilized as a soldier. Wounded and taken prisoner, it was during this captivity that he produced his first works. He became an expressionist sculptor whose social realism is de facto authentic.
